Elliptical Subject Specific model for respiratory motion

چکیده
Background Respiratory motion of the heart poses a problem for high resolution cardiac MR imaging. Prospective slice following uses the navigator position immediately prior to the imaging segment to correct the slice positions throughout the segment [1]. The navigator is typically placed over the right hemi-diaphragm and a fixed correction factor is used to adjust for the difference to the motion of the heart. The relationship between the motion of the heart and the superior-inferior motion of the diaphragm is approximately linear although highly subject specific, with an element of hysteresis [2]. We investigated a more complex model to incorporate non rigid transformation of the heart as well as hysteresis.

A fast model for prediction of respiratory lung motion for image-guided radiotherapy: A feasibility study
Background: The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of constructing a fast thorax model suitable for simulating lung motion due to respiration using only one CT dataset. Materials and Methods: For each of six patients with different thorax sizes, two sets of CT images were obtained in single-breath-hold inhale and exhale stages in the supine position. The CT images were then ...
متن کاملNon-model-based correction of respiratory motion using beat-to-beat 3D spiral fat-selective imaging.
PURPOSE To demonstrate the feasibility of retrospective beat-to-beat correction of respiratory motion, without the need for a respiratory motion model. MATERIALS AND METHODS A high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) spiral black-blood scan of the right coronary artery (RCA) of six healthy volunteers was acquired over 160 cardiac cycles without respiratory gating. One spiral interleaf was acqui...
متن کاملDynamics of a Running Below-Knee Prosthesis Compared to Those of a Normal Subject
The normal human running has been simulated by two-dimensional biped model with 7 segments. Series of normal running experiments were performed and data of ground reaction forces measured by force plate was analyzed and was fitted to some Fourier series. The model is capable to simulate running for different ages and weights at different running speeds. A proportional derivative control algorit...
متن کاملSubject-specific and respiration-corrected 4D liver model from real-time ultrasound image sequences
Respiratory liver motion is one of the major issues affecting the liver interventions, such as biopsy and ablation, in the clinical practice. Traditional 4D liver model methods using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) data sets for motion compensation to solve this problem have proved time-consuming and costly. In addition, the widely used freehand 3D ultrasound techni...
متن کاملGeneration of a Mean Motion Model of the Lung Using 4D-CT Image Data
Modeling of respiratory motion gains in importance within the field of radiation therapy of lung cancer patients. Current modeling approaches are usually confined to intra-patient registration of 3D image data representing the individual patient’s anatomy at different breathing phases. We propose an approach to generate a mean motion model of the lung based on thoracic 4D CT data of different p...
